Alicante Torrevieja Bus

Journey Duration: 1 Hour
When searching online, you may be forgiven for thinking that there is no coach service connecting Alicante to Torrevieja by bus. But, despite a clear lack of clear info online, I’m here to tell you that there is in fact a bus connecting these two destinations.
The bus from Alicante to Torrevieja that takes exactly an hour is operated by the Costazul company (part of the Avanza company that also offer a range of other route networks across Spain).
Bus – Alicante Torrevieja
When leaving from Alicante, there are two services available. One being directly from the Airport and the other being from Alicante city centre.
Departing from Alicante Airport, Coastazul operate around 12 daily departures starting from 08:00 am in the morning and operating throughout the day until the last departure at 22:00 pm at night.
Currently a one-way ticket costs €7.00.
From the city centre terminal, this bus service offers around 9 daily departures with a one-way ticket costing €4.65.
Important: It is very important to note, according to the Costazul website, the only way to purchase the tickets for the Airport to Torrevieja bus is to do so online.
Torrevieja Alicante Bus
Upon the return, the Torrevieja to Alicante bus schedule offers around the same amount of daily departures, but only with slightly different departure times.
The Airport service kicks off at 07:00 am in the morning from Torrevieja, with the last departing bus at 21:00 pm at night. Whereas departures from the city centre start at 07:15 am up until 21:00 pm at night.
Again, the ticket price is €7.00 for a one-way from the airport and €4.65 from the city centre.
Even if booking a return, there is no discount or benefit to do so, ticket prices work on a one-way fare basis.
Alicante Bus Terminal
The Alicante to Torrevieja bus that leaves from the Alicante-Elche airport and heads direct to Torrevieja has no stops on route. At Alicante airport the bus stops are generally located just outside the departures hall. But if you do get lost, the airport info kiosk will be able to guide you to the correct bus stop.
From the city centre the buses depart from the Loring-Estación Autobuses situated in Avenida de Loring, Alicante. This service has 12 stops along its route but also takes around 1 hour to complete.
Torrevieja Bus Station
Arrivals and departures into and out of Torrevieja takes place to the Torrevieja bus station that is located in Calle Patricio Zammit, Torrevieja, and is situated pretty much in the city centre.
Alicante to Torrevieja Train

Journey Duration: No service
At present, there is no Alicante to Torrevieja train service. Thus, the best way to travel by public transport between these two cities, is to make use of the bus service as outlined above.
Driving from Alicante to Torrevieja by car

Journey Duration: Just under 1 Hour
If you want a greater sense of freedom, being able to explore the region at your own leisure, then renting a car for the duration of your stay would make the most sense. With the distance from Alicante to Torrevieja being roughly between 50 – 68 kilometres (depending on the route taken), the journey should take you just under an hour to travel by car.
Spanish Motorways
On this particular route, there are a few different options you may decide on in terms of highways / roads to take. Keep in mind that Spanish highways have both tolled (paid) and free motorways. Normally it’s pretty easy to spot which are tolled roads, given that they usually have a P in the name. Example, the AP-7 highway is one of the routes you may travel on between Torrevieja and Alicante. Roads that are named only with an A and a number, example the A-70 are usually free.
Have a look at this Spanish road map, that I thought was pretty awesome for determining which route to take as they mark out which roads should be free and which are tolled. Very handy to keep on hand whilst road tripping in Spain!
