Capitals of Europe: The 44 Capitals of Countries in Europe, Including Quick Facts & Images!

Looking for a list of the Capitals of Europe? In this post, we outline the 44 capitals of countries in Europe together with some quick facts & images too!

We’ve always had a real love and fascination for Europe. It’s partly the reason why we decided to pack our bags and move across the globe to the beautiful and sunny Portuguese capital of Lisbon, which we have called home for a number of years now!

There is something truly magical about the continent. Whether you are island hopping throughout the stunning Greek isles, exploring historic landmarks in Portugal, Spain, or France, or you’re sampling delicious Italian food and drinks, there’s simply so much worth exploring by way of history, culture, and cuisine that it’ll be hard to ever truly get bored of Europe. It’s this passion for Europe that ultimately led us to start this travel blog and to hopefully trigger a curiosity within our readers to uncover the best of Europe through our travel guides and tips.

Recently as I sat to update our travel bucket list, I thought to compile a list of the capitals of Europe, partly for personal use, but also partly to share as an informative piece for those looking for a list of all the capitals of countries in Europe.

Whilst there may be more countries than listed in this guide, we opted instead to focus on the capitals of European countries as recognised by the United Nations Geoscheme. As such, our Europe capital lists contains 44 countries and their capitals based on this scheme. We’ve also included some quick facts, and for reference, including our own relevant posts for you to click through to learn more!

By the way, don’t forget to scroll to the bottom of our post and download our Europe Capital List in PDF format for easy reference!
