About me

Hi, I’m Marco, the travel-obsessed creator behind Travel Boo!

Originally from South Africa, I moved to Portugal back in 2017 to reconnect with my Portuguese roots and to finally live closer to the part of the world that had fascinated me since childhood… Europe.

I’ve always been drawn to and inspired by its beauty, history, and diversity, and living here has allowed me to explore it in a way I only dreamed of before.

With a Diploma in Travel & Tourism and a Postgraduate in Business Management, I’ve spent over 15 years working in the travel industry. From managing global business travel to serving as Director for the Global Business Travel Association (South Africa). I even picked up a few recognitions along the way, like being runner-up for Travel Buyer of the Year 2016.

But professional side aside, I’m an avid traveller at heart — a coffee addict, aspiring tennis player, and someone who truly believes the best way to experience a place is through its food (I’ve quite happily eaten my way through every city or country I’ve visited in Europe!).

In 2019, I started Travel Boo as a creative outlet to share my experiences, insider tips, and love for authentic travel. My goal is to offer genuine, personal insights — not just another AI-generated list — and to help fellow travellers experience Europe in a meaningful, memorable way.

Over the years, Travel Boo has been featured in publications such as The Portugal News, The Algarve Resident, Goats on the Road, and The Planet D — but what I’m most proud of is building a space that celebrates real travel stories and connections.

So, grab a coffee and join me as I uncover the charm, culture, and cuisine of Europe — one adventure at a time!
